| | | | | | | This replaces `std::ostringstream`, when it is written to only once. If the single written argument was numeric, `std::to_string` is used instead. Otherwise, the single written argument is used directly instead of the `std::ostringstream::str()` invocation.

| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This changes `cmMakefile::AddDefinition` to take a `cm::string_view` as value argument instead of a `const char *`. Benefits are: - `std::string` can be passed to `cmMakefile::AddDefinition` directly without the `c_str()` plus string length recomputation fallback. - Lengths of literals passed to `cmMakefile::AddDefinition` can be computed at compile time. In various sources uses of `cmMakefile::AddDefinition` are adapted to avoid `std::string::c_str` calls and the `std::string` is passed directly. Uses of `cmMakefile::AddDefinition`, where a `nullptr` `const char*` might be passed to `cmMakefile::AddDefinition` are extended with `nullptr` checks.

* cmCommand: deprecate functions GetMakefile and SetErrorDaniel Pfeifer2019-07-211-9/+8
| | | | | | | | | Replace the members for the Makefile and the Error with a cmExecutionStatus. Re-implement GetMakefile and SetError based on that. Both functions should be called directly on the cmExecutionStatus that is passed to InitialPass. This will help us make all Commands immutable and remove the need for cloning.

* Simplify CMake per-source license noticesBrad King2016-09-271-11/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Per-source copyright/license notice headers that spell out copyright holder names and years are hard to maintain and often out-of-date or plain wrong. Precise contributor information is already maintained automatically by the version control tool. Ultimately it is the receiver of a file who is responsible for determining its licensing status, and per-source notices are merely a convenience. Therefore it is simpler and more accurate for each source to have a generic notice of the license name and references to more detailed information on copyright holders and full license terms. Our `Copyright.txt` file now contains a list of Contributors whose names appeared source-level copyright notices. It also references version control history for more precise information. Therefore we no longer need to spell out the list of Contributors in each source file notice. Replace CMake per-source copyright/license notice headers with a short description of the license and links to `Copyright.txt` and online information available from "https://cmake.org/licensing". The online URL also handles cases of modules being copied out of our source into other projects, so we can drop our notices about replacing links with full license text. Run the `Utilities/Scripts/filter-notices.bash` script to perform the majority of the replacements mechanically. Manually fix up shebang lines and trailing newlines in a few files. Manually update the notices in a few files that the script does not handle.
* CTest: Add CAPTURE_CMAKE_ERROR val to `ctest_*` commandsBill Hoffman2016-09-201-4/+108
| | | | | | | If a `ctest_*` command has CAPTURE_CMAKE_ERROR then any errors generated by cmake during that command will cause the value to be assigned `-1`. This will prevent a `ctest -S` script from returning non-zero unless the script explicitly calls `message(FATAL_ERROR)`.

* Remove `//------...` horizontal separator commentsBrad King2016-05-091-2/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Modern editors provide plenty of ways to visually separate functions. Drop the explicit comments that previously served this purpose. Use the following command to automate the change: $ git ls-files -z -- \ "*.c" "*.cc" "*.cpp" "*.cxx" "*.h" "*.hh" "*.hpp" "*.hxx" | egrep -z -v "^Source/cmCommandArgumentLexer\." | egrep -z -v "^Source/cmCommandArgumentParser(\.y|\.cxx|Tokens\.h)" | egrep -z -v "^Source/cmDependsJavaLexer\." | egrep -z -v "^Source/cmDependsJavaParser(\.y|\.cxx|Tokens\.h)" | egrep -z -v "^Source/cmExprLexer\." | egrep -z -v "^Source/cmExprParser(\.y|\.cxx|Tokens\.h)" | egrep -z -v "^Source/cmFortranLexer\." | egrep -z -v "^Source/cmFortranParser(\.y|\.cxx|Tokens\.h)" | egrep -z -v "^Source/cmListFileLexer\." | egrep -z -v "^Source/cm_sha2" | egrep -z -v "^Source/(kwsys|CursesDialog/form)/" | egrep -z -v "^Utilities/(KW|cm).*/" | xargs -0 sed -i '/^\(\/\/---*\|\/\*---*\*\/\)$/ {d;}' This avoids modifying third-party sources and generated sources.
* CTest: Optionally add a ChangeId attribute on XML Site tagsZack Galbreath2015-07-171-0/+6
| | | | | | | Add variable CTEST_CHANGE_ID to configure the setting. This allows CTest clients to give CDash information about what change is being tested so that CDash can take actions to report the results (e.g. to a pull request page).
* ctest_submit: Add QUIET optionZack Galbreath2015-02-231-4/+12

* CTest: Simplify ctest_* command source/build dir lookupBrad King2013-04-121-13/+14
| | | | | | | | In cmCTestHandlerCommand::InitialPass call InitializeHandler after setting the CTest "SourceDirectory" and "BuildDirectory" configuration values instead of before. This makes the values available to InitializeHandler methods in subclasses, so also drop the duplicate configuration of those values from cmCTestConfigureCommand::InitializeHandler.

* Fix issue #2336 - honor the -C arg to ctest. Honor it for all stages of ↵David Cole2009-12-041-0/+11
| | | | running -D dashboards from the command line and running ctest_configure, ctest_build and ctest_test commands in -S scripts. Also, allow a script to change it by setting the CTEST_CONFIGURATION_TYPE variable: allows for multiple configuration build/test cycles within one script. Add a new signature for the cmake command build_command that accepts CONFIGURATION as one argument. The original build_command signature is still there, but now marked as deprecated in the documentation. Of course... also add CTestConfig tests to verify that -C is honored for -D dashboards and -S scripts.
* Convert CMake to OSI-approved BSD LicenseBrad King2009-09-281-14/+9
| | | | | | | This converts the CMake license to a pure 3-clause OSI-approved BSD License. We drop the previous license clause requiring modified versions to be plainly marked. We also update the CMake copyright to cover the full development time range.

* ENH: Teach ctest_* to create appending XML filesBrad King2009-01-121-0/+11
| | | | | This adds an APPEND option to the ctest_* commands which tells them to put the Append="true" attribute in the Site element of their XML file.
* ENH: Refactor CTest command argument handlingBrad King2009-01-121-48/+51
| | | | | | | The previous approach to handling of arguments to ctest_* commands worked only for keyword/value arguments with a single value. This refactors the approach to allow some commands to define alternative argument forms.
