* IWYU: Fix handling of <memory> standard headerBrad King2019-07-101-0/+1
| | | | | | | | An old workaround for `std::allocator_traits<>::value_type` lints from IWYU on `std::vector<>` usage breaks IWYU's handling of `<memory>`. Convert the workaround to use the same approach we already use for a workaround of `std::__decay_and_strip<>::::__type` lints. Then update the `<memory>` inclusions to follow the now-correct IWYU lints.
* Ninja,Makefile: use `unique_ptr` for memory managementSaleem Abdulrasool2019-04-181-5/+4
| | | | | Use a `unique_ptr` to manage the lifetime of the `MacOSXContentGenerator` and 'OSXBundleGenerator` rather than manually handling the lifetime.
* Reduce raw string pointers usage.Pavel Solodovnikov2018-01-311-5/+3
| | | | | | | | | | * Change some functions to take `std::string` instead of `const char*` in the following classes: `cmMakeFile`, `cmake`, `cmCoreTryCompile`, `cmSystemTools`, `cmState`, `cmLocalGenerator` and a few others. * Greatly reduce using of `const char*` overloads for `cmSystemTools::MakeDirectory` and `cmSystemTools::RelativePath`. * Remove many redundant `c_str()` conversions throughout the code.
* Reduce allocation of temporary values on heap.Pavel Solodovnikov2018-01-261-1/+2
| | | | | - Use `std::move` while inserting temporary results into vectors. - Change `push_back` to `emplace_back` where appropriate.

* Makefiles: Introduce local RelativePath methodStephen Kelly2016-10-061-1/+1
| | | | | | | This makes it easier to remove directory-specific state from cmOutputConverter where it doesn't belong. Of course, this just relocates the problem to the makefiles generator for now, but that's better than affecting the core.
* Simplify CMake per-source license noticesBrad King2016-09-271-11/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Per-source copyright/license notice headers that spell out copyright holder names and years are hard to maintain and often out-of-date or plain wrong. Precise contributor information is already maintained automatically by the version control tool. Ultimately it is the receiver of a file who is responsible for determining its licensing status, and per-source notices are merely a convenience. Therefore it is simpler and more accurate for each source to have a generic notice of the license name and references to more detailed information on copyright holders and full license terms. Our `Copyright.txt` file now contains a list of Contributors whose names appeared source-level copyright notices. It also references version control history for more precise information. Therefore we no longer need to spell out the list of Contributors in each source file notice. Replace CMake per-source copyright/license notice headers with a short description of the license and links to `Copyright.txt` and online information available from "https://cmake.org/licensing". The online URL also handles cases of modules being copied out of our source into other projects, so we can drop our notices about replacing links with full license text. Run the `Utilities/Scripts/filter-notices.bash` script to perform the majority of the replacements mechanically. Manually fix up shebang lines and trailing newlines in a few files. Manually update the notices in a few files that the script does not handle.
* Convert: Inline HOME_OUTPUT MAKERULE conversionStephen Kelly2016-09-191-3/+6

* Makefiles: Change AppendCustomCommand API to stringsStephen Kelly2016-08-271-2/+2
| | | | | Avoid the RelativeRoot enum. Supply the HOME_OUTPUT string at each callsite to make the parameter non-defaulted.

* Use enums defined in cmOutputConverter using their fully qualified name.Daniel Pfeifer2016-05-251-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | Mostly automated: values=("RelativeRoot" "NONE" "FULL" "HOME" "START" "HOME_OUTPUT" "START_OUTPUT" "OutputFormat" "UNCHANGED" "MAKERULE" "SHELL" "WATCOMQUOTE" "RESPONSE" "FortranFormat" "FortranFormatNone" "FortranFormatFixed" "FortranFormatFree") for i in "${values[@]}"; do git grep -l cmLocalGenerator::$i | xargs sed -i "s|cmLocalGenerator::$i|cmOutputConverter::$i|g"; done
* Revise C++ coding style using clang-formatKitware Robot2016-05-161-31/+26
| | | | | | | | | | | | | Run the `Utilities/Scripts/clang-format.bash` script to update all our C++ code to a new style defined by `.clang-format`. Use `clang-format` version 3.8. * If you reached this commit for a line in `git blame`, re-run the blame operation starting at the parent of this commit to see older history for the content. * See the parent commit for instructions to rebase a change across this style transition commit.
* Remove `//------...` horizontal separator commentsBrad King2016-05-091-3/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Modern editors provide plenty of ways to visually separate functions. Drop the explicit comments that previously served this purpose. Use the following command to automate the change: $ git ls-files -z -- \ "*.c" "*.cc" "*.cpp" "*.cxx" "*.h" "*.hh" "*.hpp" "*.hxx" | egrep -z -v "^Source/cmCommandArgumentLexer\." | egrep -z -v "^Source/cmCommandArgumentParser(\.y|\.cxx|Tokens\.h)" | egrep -z -v "^Source/cmDependsJavaLexer\." | egrep -z -v "^Source/cmDependsJavaParser(\.y|\.cxx|Tokens\.h)" | egrep -z -v "^Source/cmExprLexer\." | egrep -z -v "^Source/cmExprParser(\.y|\.cxx|Tokens\.h)" | egrep -z -v "^Source/cmFortranLexer\." | egrep -z -v "^Source/cmFortranParser(\.y|\.cxx|Tokens\.h)" | egrep -z -v "^Source/cmListFileLexer\." | egrep -z -v "^Source/cm_sha2" | egrep -z -v "^Source/(kwsys|CursesDialog/form)/" | egrep -z -v "^Utilities/(KW|cm).*/" | xargs -0 sed -i '/^\(\/\/---*\|\/\*---*\*\/\)$/ {d;}' This avoids modifying third-party sources and generated sources.

* cmLocalGenerator: Rename 'MAKEFILE' to 'MAKERULE'Brad King2014-07-221-1/+1
| | | | | Rename the internal enumeration value for converting paths destined for use in Makefile rule syntax.
* Remove some c_str() calls.Stephen Kelly2014-03-111-2/+2
| | | | | | Use the clang RemoveCStrCalls tool to automatically migrate the code. This was only run on linux, so does not have any positive or negative effect on other platforms.

* Port some of the generator API to cmGeneratorTarget.Stephen Kelly2013-11-221-3/+3
| | | | | | | Just enough to reach the BuildMacContentDirectory method and the NeedRelinkBeforeInstall methods. In the future, those methods can be moved to cmGeneratorTarget.
* Refactor how bundles and frameworks are supported.Clinton Stimpson2013-05-231-3/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Make handling of directory separators consistent between non-bundle and bundle code. Remove xcode specific flag from cmTarget when getting install_name. Add (more) consistent convenience functions in cmTarget to get directories inside of bundles and frameworks to add files to. This refactor also fixes bug #12263 where frameworks had the wrong install name when SKIP_BUILD_RPATH. Also make install_name for frameworks consistent between Makefile and Xcode generator.
* Fix memory leak in Makefile generator.Nicolas Despres2012-07-221-0/+7

* CMake: Fix progress reporting for custom targets (#12441)Johan Fänge2011-12-141-0/+14
| | | | | | Adds "include progress.make" to build.make, just like for add_executable and add_library targets. The code was copied from cmMakefileTargetGenerator::WriteCommonCodeRules().
* Convert CMake to OSI-approved BSD LicenseBrad King2009-09-281-14/+9
| | | | | | | This converts the CMake license to a pure 3-clause OSI-approved BSD License. We drop the previous license clause requiring modified versions to be plainly marked. We also update the CMake copyright to cover the full development time range.
* ENH: Give target in which custom commands buildBrad King2009-02-101-2/+2
| | | | | | This gives the cmTarget instance for which custom command rules are being generated to cmLocalUnixMakefileGenerator3::AppendCustomCommands. It will be useful in the future.

This also restores the documented behavior that PRE_BUILD rules are treated as PRE_LINK rules on non-VS generators. Also fixed custom command dependencies on the rule file build.make so that custom commands re-run when the commands themselves change.
