Clang++ on Windows with the MSVC STL requires C++14 to compile.
The C++ standard is set to C++14 for the entire tutorial instead of
MSVC/clang specific conditions to keep it simple.

Ancient versions of CMake required else(), endif(), and similar block
termination commands to have arguments matching the command starting the
block. This is no longer the preferred style.

trailing whitespace. Wipe out all remnants of trailing whitespace
everywhere except third-party code.
