From 7d47c693650672afabc46bd200246eb9130582d6 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Brad King Date: Fri, 18 Oct 2013 11:25:49 -0400 Subject: Drop compatibility with CMake < 2.4 Drop all behavior activated by setting CMAKE_BACKWARDS_COMPATIBILITY to a value lower than 2.4, and generate an error when projects or the user attempt to do so. In the error suggest using a CMake 2.8.x release. Teach cmake_minimum_required to warn about projects that do not require at least CMake 2.4. They are not supported by CMake >= 3.0. Replace the documentation of CMAKE_BACKWARDS_COMPATIBILITY with a reference to policy CMP0001. --- Help/variable/CMAKE_BACKWARDS_COMPATIBILITY.rst | 9 +- Modules/Platform/Darwin-icc.cmake | 6 -- Modules/Platform/Darwin.cmake | 5 -- Source/cmAddCustomTargetCommand.cxx | 17 ++-- Source/cmCMakeMinimumRequired.cxx | 3 + Source/cmConfigureFileCommand.cxx | 25 +----- Source/cmConfigureFileCommand.h | 4 - Source/cmFindBase.cxx | 18 ---- Source/cmFindPackageCommand.cxx | 96 ---------------------- Source/cmFindPackageCommand.h | 1 - Source/cmGlobalGenerator.cxx | 23 ------ Source/cmLocalGenerator.cxx | 15 +--- Source/cmLocalGenerator.h | 4 +- Source/cmMakefile.cxx | 51 ++---------- Source/cmMakefile.h | 7 -- Source/cmPolicies.cxx | 12 +-- Source/cmTarget.cxx | 4 +- Source/cmake.cxx | 30 ------- Tests/Complex/CMakeLists.txt | 2 +- Tests/Complex/Executable/CMakeLists.txt | 1 - Tests/Complex/Executable/complex.cxx | 6 +- Tests/ComplexOneConfig/CMakeLists.txt | 2 +- Tests/ComplexOneConfig/Executable/CMakeLists.txt | 1 - Tests/ComplexOneConfig/Executable/complex.cxx | 6 +- Tests/RunCMake/CMakeLists.txt | 1 + .../cmake_minimum_required/Before24-stderr.txt | 5 ++ .../RunCMake/cmake_minimum_required/Before24.cmake | 1 + .../RunCMake/cmake_minimum_required/CMakeLists.txt | 3 + .../CompatBefore24-result.txt | 1 + .../CompatBefore24-stderr.txt | 5 ++ .../cmake_minimum_required/CompatBefore24.cmake | 2 + .../PolicyBefore24-result.txt | 1 + .../PolicyBefore24-stderr.txt | 6 ++ .../cmake_minimum_required/PolicyBefore24.cmake | 2 + .../cmake_minimum_required/RunCMakeTest.cmake | 5 ++ 35 files changed, 71 insertions(+), 309 deletions(-) create mode 100644 Tests/RunCMake/cmake_minimum_required/Before24-stderr.txt create mode 100644 Tests/RunCMake/cmake_minimum_required/Before24.cmake create mode 100644 Tests/RunCMake/cmake_minimum_required/CMakeLists.txt create mode 100644 Tests/RunCMake/cmake_minimum_required/CompatBefore24-result.txt create mode 100644 Tests/RunCMake/cmake_minimum_required/CompatBefore24-stderr.txt create mode 100644 Tests/RunCMake/cmake_minimum_required/CompatBefore24.cmake create mode 100644 Tests/RunCMake/cmake_minimum_required/PolicyBefore24-result.txt create mode 100644 Tests/RunCMake/cmake_minimum_required/PolicyBefore24-stderr.txt create mode 100644 Tests/RunCMake/cmake_minimum_required/PolicyBefore24.cmake create mode 100644 Tests/RunCMake/cmake_minimum_required/RunCMakeTest.cmake diff --git a/Help/variable/CMAKE_BACKWARDS_COMPATIBILITY.rst b/Help/variable/CMAKE_BACKWARDS_COMPATIBILITY.rst index 4015739..05c366a 100644 --- a/Help/variable/CMAKE_BACKWARDS_COMPATIBILITY.rst +++ b/Help/variable/CMAKE_BACKWARDS_COMPATIBILITY.rst @@ -1,11 +1,4 @@ CMAKE_BACKWARDS_COMPATIBILITY ----------------------------- -Version of cmake required to build project - -From the point of view of backwards compatibility, this specifies what -version of CMake should be supported.
