* Performance issue with QGraphicsItem::ItemClipsChildrenToShape.Bjørn Erik Nilsen2010-05-051-1/+5
| | | | | | | | | | | | | If the child rect is bigger than the parent rect and parent has the ItemClipsChildrenToShape flag set, then by updating the child, the whole child rect is marked as dirty, resulting in a much larger update area than required. This has a major impact on performance in Orbit/HB, where e.g. item-views typically consist of a container item that clips its children/items to shape. See attached video in QTBUG-9024. Auto test included. Task-number: QTBUG-9024

* QGraphicsView drawing artifacts due to rounding errors.Bjørn Erik Nilsen2010-05-031-1/+10
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Found during investigation of QTBUG-8820, and clearly visible in examples/graphicsview/diagramscene when slowly moving an item out of the viewport (left and top edge). Caused by two problems: 1) Using QRectF::toRect() instead of QRectF::toAlignedRect(). 2) Didn't adjust the item's bounding rect properly in drawSubtree(). QRectF::toRect() is completely useless since all the coordinates are rounded to the nearest integer. E.g. QRectF(-0.4, -0.4, 10.4, 10.4).toRect() -> QRect(0, 0, 10, 10), whereas toAlignedRect() returns QRect(-1, -1, 11, 11). Then when we have a proper aligned rect, we have to adjust it by 2 pixels in all directions (or 1 pixel in case of QGraphicsView::DontAdjustForAntialiasing). At first glance this adjustment seems too much, since one would assume adjusing the QRectF by 0.5 before using toAlignedRect() would be sufficient. That's sufficient in an untransformed world with pens using BevelJoin. However, the story is completely different as soon as the world is transformed or the pens use a different join. It's basically complicated (in some cases impossible) to calculate a pixel perfect aligned QRect, so instead we adjust by the amount of pixels required in the worst case. This commit also includes some optimizations for QRegion updates (since I anyways had to change the code). There's no point in using QRegion granularity if the viewport update mode is either FullViewportUpdate or BoundingRectViewportUpdate. Auto tests adjusted and new ones included. | * Mac: Graphics View starving user events and sometimes crashes.Bjørn Erik Nilsen2010-04-161-2/+6
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Problem was that we called processEvents() and excluded user input events. The idea was to only process pending update requests, but by doing that there's also a chance that user input events will starve. Also, there's no gurantee that only update requests will be processed by processEvents(), so a safer solution is to call "HIViewRender" on Carbon and "displayIfNeeded" on Cocoa. This will for sure dispatch pending update requests and nothing else (which is exactly what we want). No auto test regressions. Fixes tst_qgraphicsproxywidget::updateAndDelete failure on Carbon. Benchmarks indicate an increase in performance. Task-number: QTBUG-7502 Reviewed-by: richard

Don't have QGraphicsSceneTouchEvent::TouchPoint inherit from QTouchEvent::TouchPoint. The only reason to do this is to support an implementation trick, which can be done another way (see below). This means we have to essentially duplicate the API in the GraphicsScene variant. 2. Don't use a list of pointers to touch points in QTouchEvent and QGraphicsSceneTouchEvent. This means we have to make the TouchPoint classes implicitly shared (and the effect of the previous trick of static_casting the widget touch point to a graphics-scene touch point can be emulated by sharing the d-pointers between the classes). 3. QEvent::RawTouch isn't really an event type, it's a backdoor. Remove it and export the bool qt_translateRawTouchEvent(QList<QTouchEvent::TouchPoint>, QWidget *) function instead. 4. Rename QTouchEvent::TouchPoint::area() to size() (which is more clear as to what the function returns). QGraphicsSceneTouchEvent::TouchPoint gains size(), sceneSize(), and screenSize() functions (the actual translation from screen to scene to item still needs to be implemented).

QTouchEvent::TouchPoint becomes the base for QGraphicsSceneTouchEvent::TouchPoint - this means there is one private for every touch point, and we can store both the screen and scene coordinates in one place. Converting a QTouchEvent to QGraphicsSceneTouchEvent becomes nothing more than casting the QTouchEvent::TouchPoints to QGraphicsSceneTouchEvent::TouchPoints. 2. The logic that we use in QApplication to convert WM_TOUCH* messages to QTouchEvents is essentially duplicated (with some minor changes) to QGraphicsScene so that it can support mulitple touch item targets. I will have to investigate how I can perhaps merge some of the duplicated code. QEvent::GraphicsSceneTouchBegin propagation is not implemented yet, and will come in a later commit

The scene will then send the touch events to the appropriate item. Like mouse event support, the item that accepts the touch begin is the item that will get all subsequent touch events. if no item accepts the touch begin event, then no touch events are sent to any item (and mouse events are sent instead).

We can therefore gain quite some nice speedup by making them opt-in with the QGraphicsItem::ItemUsesExtendedStyleOption flag. Additionally, QStyleOptionGraphicsItem::levelOfDetail has been obsoleted, and a new function QStyleOptionGraphicsItem:: levelOfDetailFromTransform(const QTransform &) has been added.
