Until Symbian^4, it is/was not possible to access the font tables of the fonts which are stored in Symbians Font and Bitmap Server. That's why Qt for Symbian's FontDataBase created an own TFontStore where it loaded in all installed fonts. While accessing the font tables via the own TFontStore it still uses the rasterization and metrics from the FBS, which has public Api for those things. However, loading all fonts in the own TFontStore for each Qt Gui process slows down the program startup. Symbian's future font table setter Api is very welcome and this implemets it's usage. This means that we can do fast animated transforms for QStaticText on this paint engine. A quick test yields something like 100x speed-up on Windows. This also give visually better results, as we previously would animate the hinting of the glyphs, thus causing jittering. The autotest has been updated to reflect the fact that drawText() and drawStaticText() now go through identical paths on GL, also when transforms are set on the painter. However, the scale was changed in one test, because it was so great that drawText() would fall back to paths. With QStaticText the idea is speed, so you'll get a poor, but fast result instead, which is better than tricking people. Reviewed-by: Samuel

| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | XLFD requires a DISPLAY connection to work. We would get crashes in a QApplication with GUI disabled when: 1. Not using FontConfig, or 2. Falling back to XLFD for bitmap fonts that require scaling. The patch disables paths to loadXlfd() when GUI is disabled. This means that in XLFD, we will always get a box font, which is the same behavior as when using fonts outside the main thread. There doesn't seem to be any way around this. With FontConfig, we will use the font it returns, even if it's a slightly wrong size. Main consequence will be for using bitmap fonts for printing on a highres printer in a non-gui application. Again, there does not seem to be any way around this. NOTE: I've also added a catch to avoid going into loadXlfd() in the fallback if we're not on the main thread, since this was missing. That led to a mismaptch between actual font face variants (bold) versus the retrieved font tables. S60, usually comes with two 'Series 60 Sans' font files where one is semi bold. The rasterizer plugin merges both fonts to one and returns the semi bold font if a bold font is requested, otherwise it returns the normal font. Both font files have slight differences in the cmap. Qt's font implementation always retrieved the font tables for the normal font even if it drew the bold font. That led to wrong glyphs in some languages (Thai, Vietnamese), thanks to the cmap differences. This fix makes sure that when retrieving the font tables, bold and italic are considered. It avoids innecessary double allocations of MOpenFontTrueTypeExtension instances. Also the ChunkHeap size of m_heap does now depend on the number of loaded font files. This has exposed a few bugs where the rounded height of the font was used for text layouts and widget size hints. Since a fractional part of the font's height also creates pixels, rounding the height down in these cases is always wrong. The biggest culprit was QScriptLine::height. This is used to lay out text lines and returning a fractional height created problems all over the place. Rather than ceil the number in all places where it is used, we simply return a ceiled value for the line's height. In 4.6, this value would be qRound(ascent)+qRound(descent)+1, which would in some cases cause the previous and current line to overlap by one pixel. By ceiling the sum of the two, we guarantee that the text line contains the complete bounds of the font. A note about the removal of the code that gets the font metrics for QSmallFont: The condition would never be true since this is inside a branch which is only evaluated if fontIsSet is true.
