The code would search for libcrypto.so.1.0.0 and libssl.so.1.0.0, while on QNX the libs are called libcrypto.so and libssl.so, and there are no symlinks with version numbers. This saves ~ 45 ms in real apps (tested with Facebook, Twitter and Foursquare), and ~ 24 ms at app startup in an isolated app without GUI (difference maybe because threads are fighting for CPU or so). In most cases, the libraries already loaded (static dependencies of Qt, such as libc) will include the path where libssl is installed. Use dl_iterate_phdr to find the paths. This is a linux specific function, but it does provide "/lib/<arch>" and "/usr/lib/<arch>" at the point ssl symbols are being resolved when running the qsslsocket autotest (which has less dependencies than a typical Qt app). The solution is to fix all places where we dynamically load system libraries. More specifically, we now load all system libraries with an absolute path that points to a library in the system directory (usually c:\windows\system32). We therefore introduce a small class named QSystemLibrary that only loads libraries located in the system path. This shares some of the API with QLibrary (in order to make the patch as small as possible). We don't fix QLibrary due to risk of regressions. In addition, applications can fix the code that calls QLibrary themselves. The problem does not apply to Windows CE, since the search order is documented as not searching in the current directory. However, it touches some CE-specific code - therefore QSystemLibrary is sometimes used on WinCE (however, it will just do a normal LoadLibrary() since its safe anyway). This change does not affect the testability plugin (it is not clearly documented where that plugin is located, and the plugin should never be used in production code anyway) Loading OpenSSL libraries The ssl libraries are handled specially, and searched in this order (we cannot expect them to always be in the system folder): 1. |/ | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The commit enables -openssl config in addition to -openssl-linked in Symbian OS platforms. In Symbian OS the symbol names are stripped away from DLLand symbols are are referenced via ordinal numbers. This change resolves the correct ordinals for SSL symbols in Symbian OS. The change is a bit hackish, but is currently only way to resolve symbols at runtime in Symbian OS - if STDDLL targettype is not counted. The problem of STDDLL target type is that it is not supported by S60 3.1 and in addition the SSL libraries in S60 are not currently build with STDDLL target but DLL target. This mechanism should work as long as BC for SSL symbols is kept. And S60 has given binary promise, so we should not have problems...
