Several refinements:
- check for pre-ANSI preprocessor (needed by operator.c)
- SCO_SV shared library support (Lance)
- improved AIX shared library support (Vlad & Manus)
- finally fixed --with-readline=DIRECOTRY, using LDFLAGS
