* bpo-42967: only use '&' as a query string separator (#24297)Adam Goldschmidt2021-02-141-0/+13
| | | | | | | | | | | bpo-42967: [security] Address a web cache-poisoning issue reported in urllib.parse.parse_qsl(). urllib.parse will only us "&" as query string separator by default instead of both ";" and "&" as allowed in earlier versions. An optional argument seperator with default value "&" is added to specify the separator. | | | | | | | | | | While the introduction of ModuleNotFoundError was fully backwards compatible on the import API consumer side, folks providing alternative implementations of `__import__` need to make an update to be forward compatible with clients that start relying on the new subclass. https://bugs.python.org/issue35486

* bpo-33656: On Windows, add API call saying that tk scales for DPI (GH-7137)Terry Jan Reedy2018-06-111-0/+6
| | | | | | | | | | | | On Windows 8.1+ or 10, with DPI compatibility properties of the Python binary unchanged, and a monitor resolution greater than 96 DPI, this should make text and lines sharper. It should otherwise have no effect. Using a magnifier, I determined that the improvement comes from horizontal and lines being better lined up with the monitor pixels. I checked that this call causes no problem on any Windows buildbot, including the Win7 buildbots. Unlike most IDLE patches, this one can be easily reverted by users by removing a few lines, at the top of idlelib/pyshell.py.

* Issue #23722: improve __classcell__ compatibilityNick Coghlan2016-12-051-0/+10
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Handling zero-argument super() in __init_subclass__ and __set_name__ involved moving __class__ initialisation to type.__new__. This requires cooperation from custom metaclasses to ensure that the new __classcell__ entry is passed along appropriately. The initial implementation of that change resulted in abruptly broken zero-argument super() support in metaclasses that didn't adhere to the new requirements (such as Django's metaclass for Model definitions). The updated approach adopted here instead emits a deprecation warning for those cases, and makes them work the same way they did in Python 3.5. This patch also improves the related class machinery documentation to cover these details and to include more reader-friendly cross-references and index entries.
* Issue #27172: Undeprecate inspect.getfullargspec()Nick Coghlan2016-12-021-0/+7
| | | | | | This is still useful for single source Python 2/3 code migrating away from inspect.getargspec(), but that wasn't clear with the documented deprecation in place.
