Issue #1798: Add ctypes calling convention that allows safe access of errno.
ctypes maintains thread-local storage that has space for two error
numbers: private copies of the system 'errno' value and, on Windows,
the system error code accessed by the GetLastError() and
SetLastError() api functions.
Foreign functions created with CDLL(..., use_errno=True), when called,
swap the system 'errno' value with the private copy just before the
actual function call, and swapped again immediately afterwards. The
'use_errno' parameter defaults to False, in this case 'ctypes_errno'
is not touched.
On Windows, foreign functions created with CDLL(...,
use_last_error=True) or WinDLL(..., use_last_error=True) swap the
system LastError value with the ctypes private copy.
The values are also swapped immeditately before and after ctypes
callback functions are called, if the callbacks are constructed using
the new optional use_errno parameter set to True: CFUNCTYPE(...,
use_errno=TRUE) or WINFUNCTYPE(..., use_errno=True).
New ctypes functions are provided to access the ctypes private copies
from Python:
- ctypes.set_errno(value) and ctypes.set_last_error(value) store
'value' in the private copy and returns the previous value.
- ctypes.get_errno() and ctypes.get_last_error() returns the current
ctypes private copies value.

test_math and test_cmath are failing on the FreeBSD 6.2 trunk buildbot,
apparently because tanh(-0.) loses the sign of zero on that platform.
If true, this is a bug in FreeBSD.
Added a configure test to verify this. I still need to figure out
how best to deal with this failure.

Issue 2665: On Windows, sys.stderr does not contain a valid file when running without a console.
It seems to work, but will fail at the first flush.

This should fix issue2632. A long description of the two competing
problems is in the bug report (one old, one recently introduced trying
to fix the old one). In short:
buffer data during socket._fileobject.read() and readlines() within a
cStringIO object instead of a [] of str()s returned from the recv()
call.
This prevents excessive memory use due to the size parameter being
passed to recv() being grossly larger than the actual size of the data
returned *and* prevents excessive cpu usage due to looping in python
calling recv() with a very tiny size value if min() is used as the
previous memory-use bug "fix" did.
It also documents what the socket._fileobject._rbufsize member is
actually used for.
This is a candidate for back porting to 2.5.

In test_io, StatefulIncrementalDecoderTest was not part of the test suite.
And of course, the test failed:
a bytearray was used without reason in io.TextIOWrapper.tell().
The difference is that iterating over bytes (i.e. str in python2.6) returns 1-char bytes,
whereas bytearrays yield integers.
This code should still work with python3.0

Try to get this test to be less flaky. It was failing sometimes because
the connect would succeed before the timeout occurred. Try using an
address and port that hopefully doesn't exist to ensure we get no response.
If this doesn't work, we can use a public address close to python.org
and hopefully that address never gets taken.

Ensure that the mailbox is closed to prevent problems on Windows with removing
an open file. This doesn't seem to be a problem in 2.6, but that appears
to be somewhat accidental (specific to reference counting). When this
gets merged to 3.0, it will make the 3.0 code simpler.

Make the test more robust by trying to reconnect up to 3 times
in case there were transient failures. This will hopefully silence

ctypes' COMError on Windows. This patch doesn't address the problem but re-enables the import of _ctypes until somebody has time to fix it right. I've no time to dig into it. Also see http://bugs.python.org/issue1505

No detailed change log; just check out the change log for the py3k-pep3137
branch. The most obvious changes:
- str8 renamed to bytes (PyString at the C level);
- bytes renamed to buffer (PyBytes at the C level);
- PyString and PyUnicode are no longer compatible.
I.e. we now have an immutable bytes type and a mutable bytes type.
The behavior of PyString was modified quite a bit, to make it more
bytes-like. Some changes are still on the to-do list.

Added unittest for calling a function with paramflags.

Updates to ctypes for python 3.0 to make the tests pass.
Notable changes are:
- return bytes instead of str8
- integers in range(256) are accepted as "one char string":
libc.strchr("abcdef", 98) is now valid.
- directly use the wide-char version of the win32 function LoadLibrary.
