| | | | | | | Copying and pickling instances of subclasses of builtin types bytearray, set, frozenset, collections.OrderedDict, collections.deque, weakref.WeakSet, and datetime.tzinfo now copies and pickles instance attributes implemented as slots.
* bpo-46541: Replace core use of _Py_IDENTIFIER() with statically initialized ↵Eric Snow2022-02-081-12/+7
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | global objects. (gh-30928) We're no longer using _Py_IDENTIFIER() (or _Py_static_string()) in any core CPython code. It is still used in a number of non-builtin stdlib modules. The replacement is: PyUnicodeObject (not pointer) fields under _PyRuntimeState, statically initialized as part of _PyRuntime. A new _Py_GET_GLOBAL_IDENTIFIER() macro facilitates lookup of the fields (along with _Py_GET_GLOBAL_STRING() for non-identifier strings). https://bugs.python.org/issue46541#msg411799 explains the rationale for this change. The core of the change is in: * (new) Include/internal/pycore_global_strings.h - the declarations for the global strings, along with the macros * Include/internal/pycore_runtime_init.h - added the static initializers for the global strings * Include/internal/pycore_global_objects.h - where the struct in pycore_global_strings.h is hooked into _PyRuntimeState * Tools/scripts/generate_global_objects.py - added generation of the global string declarations and static initializers I've also added a --check flag to generate_global_objects.py (along with make check-global-objects) to check for unused global strings. That check is added to the PR CI config. The remainder of this change updates the core code to use _Py_GET_GLOBAL_IDENTIFIER() instead of _Py_IDENTIFIER() and the related _Py*Id functions (likewise for _Py_GET_GLOBAL_STRING() instead of _Py_static_string()). This includes adding a few functions where there wasn't already an alternative to _Py*Id(), replacing the _Py_Identifier * parameter with PyObject *. The following are not changed (yet): * stop using _Py_IDENTIFIER() in the stdlib modules * (maybe) get rid of _Py_IDENTIFIER(), etc. entirely -- this may not be doable as at least one package on PyPI using this (private) API * (maybe) intern the strings during runtime init https://bugs.python.org/issue46541

* bpo-45439: Move _PyObject_CallNoArgs() to pycore_call.h (GH-28895)Victor Stinner2021-10-121-3/+3
| | | | | | | * Move _PyObject_CallNoArgs() to pycore_call.h (internal C API). * _ssl, _sqlite and _testcapi extensions now call the public PyObject_CallNoArgs() function, rather than _PyObject_CallNoArgs(). * _lsprof extension is now built with Py_BUILD_CORE_MODULE macro defined to get access to internal _PyObject_CallNoArgs().
* bpo-45439: Rename _PyObject_CallNoArg() to _PyObject_CallNoArgs() (GH-28891)Victor Stinner2021-10-111-3/+3
| | | | | Fix typo in the private _PyObject_CallNoArg() function name: rename it to _PyObject_CallNoArgs() to be consistent with the public function PyObject_CallNoArgs().
* bpo-27275: Change popitem() and pop() methods of collections.OrderedDict ↵Serhiy Storchaka2021-08-031-67/+26
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | (GH-27530) * Unify the C and Python implementations of OrderedDict.popitem(). The C implementation no longer calls ``__getitem__`` and ``__delitem__`` methods of the OrderedDict subclasses. * Change popitem() and pop() methods of collections.OrderedDict For consistency with dict both implementations (pure Python and C) of these methods in OrderedDict no longer call __getitem__ and __delitem__ methods of the OrderedDict subclasses. Previously only the Python implementation of popitem() did not call them.

* bpo-42536: GC track recycled tuples (GH-23623)Brandt Bucher2020-12-051-0/+5
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Several built-in and standard library types now ensure that their internal result tuples are always tracked by the garbage collector: - collections.OrderedDict.items - dict.items - enumerate - functools.reduce - itertools.combinations - itertools.combinations_with_replacement - itertools.permutations - itertools.product - itertools.zip_longest - zip Previously, they could have become untracked by a prior garbage collection.

| | | | | | tp_clear (GH-18749) Objects do not own weak references to them directly through the __weakref__ list so these do not need to be traversed by the GC.

| | | | | | | | | | | | | | Rename Include/internal/ headers: * pycore_hash.h -> pycore_pyhash.h * pycore_lifecycle.h -> pycore_pylifecycle.h * pycore_mem.h -> pycore_pymem.h * pycore_state.h -> pycore_pystate.h Add missing headers to Makefile.pre.in and PCbuild: * pycore_condvar.h. * pycore_hamt.h * pycore_pyhash.h
* bpo-35081: Add _PyThreadState_GET() internal macro (GH-10266)Victor Stinner2018-11-011-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | If Py_BUILD_CORE is defined, the PyThreadState_GET() macro access _PyRuntime which comes from the internal pycore_state.h header. Public headers must not require internal headers. Move PyThreadState_GET() and _PyInterpreterState_GET_UNSAFE() from Include/pystate.h to Include/internal/pycore_state.h, and rename PyThreadState_GET() to _PyThreadState_GET() there. The PyThreadState_GET() macro of pystate.h is now redefined when pycore_state.h is included, to use the fast _PyThreadState_GET(). Changes: * Add _PyThreadState_GET() macro * Replace "PyThreadState_GET()->interp" with _PyInterpreterState_GET_UNSAFE() * Replace PyThreadState_GET() with _PyThreadState_GET() in internal C files (compiled with Py_BUILD_CORE defined), but keep PyThreadState_GET() in the public header files. * _testcapimodule.c: replace PyThreadState_GET() with PyThreadState_Get(); the module is not compiled with Py_BUILD_CORE defined. * pycore_state.h now requires Py_BUILD_CORE to be defined.
* bpo-35081: Add pycore_ prefix to internal header files (GH-10263)Victor Stinner2018-10-311-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | * Rename Include/internal/ header files: * pyatomic.h -> pycore_atomic.h * ceval.h -> pycore_ceval.h * condvar.h -> pycore_condvar.h * context.h -> pycore_context.h * pygetopt.h -> pycore_getopt.h * gil.h -> pycore_gil.h * hamt.h -> pycore_hamt.h * hash.h -> pycore_hash.h * mem.h -> pycore_mem.h * pystate.h -> pycore_state.h * warnings.h -> pycore_warnings.h * PCbuild project, Makefile.pre.in, Modules/Setup: add the Include/internal/ directory to the search paths of header files. * Update includes. For example, replace #include "internal/mem.h" with #include "pycore_mem.h".

* bpo-33012: Fix invalid function cast warnings with gcc 8 for METH_NOARGS. ↵Siddhesh Poyarekar2018-04-291-18/+18
| | | | | | | | | (GH-6030) METH_NOARGS functions need only a single argument but they are cast into a PyCFunction, which takes two arguments. This triggers an invalid function cast warning in gcc8 due to the argument mismatch. Fix this by adding a dummy unused argument.
* bpo-33031: Remove dead code in C implementation of OrderedDict. (GH-6120)Serhiy Storchaka2018-04-091-76/+1
| | | | This code doesn't have effect on the final result, but causes GCC 8 warnings and can have an undefined behavior.
