Purpose: Maintenance

Description: Fortran APIs MAC OS X port for IBM XL Fortran compiler

Solution: Brought back changes from 1.6 branch

Platforms tested: pommier, h5comittested; this time h5committest
                  complained about copperpp directory and didn't run;
                  tests on verbena and sol passed.
