[svn-r11367] Purpose:
Feature: added md5 checksumming
Description:
bin/release now produces a .md5 checksum file by default.
Solution:
This involves the same changes as in the 1.7 branch; md5 is a new "method"
in bin/release.
Platforms tested:
heping
