[svn-r10172] Purpose:
Bug fix & New feature
Description:
Correct some situations where a write lock on the data in the metadata
cache was requested, but only a read lock is necessary.
Add routine to find nearest neighbor record < or > to a query key.
Platforms tested:
FreeBSD 4.11 (sleipnir)
Solaris 2.9 (shanti)
