* [svn-r21925] Description:Quincey Koziol2012-02-101-167/+38
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | Bring r21919-21924 from trunk to 1.8 branch: cleanup FUNC_ENTER macros, etc. Also removed Subversion mergeinfo tags from a few directories and files. These are artifacts from non-root merges using pre-1.6 Subversion clients. (This should fix the problem of unchanged directories looking "changed" during checkins.) Tested on: Mac OSX/64 10.7.3 (amazon) w/debug & production (daily tested on trunk)
* [svn-r19463] Purpose: Fix bug 1864Neil Fortner2010-09-211-1/+4
| | | | | | | | | | | Description: Library versions 1.6.3 and earlier contain a bug which causes them to be unable to perform certain operations on a group if that group's symbol table information is not cached in the parent group's symbol table. Versions 1.8.0 to 1.8.5 did not cache this information. Modified library to cache this information. Tested: jam, amani, heiwa (h5committest)
* [svn-r18617] Description:Quincey Koziol2010-04-221-0/+3
| | | | | | | | | | Bring r18616 from trunk to 1.8 branch: Clean up compiler warnings. Tested on: Mac OS X/32 10.6.3 (amazon) w/debug (too minor to require h5committest)
* [svn-r18377] Purpose: Fix bug 1733Neil Fortner2010-03-051-35/+61
| | | | | | | | | Description: Support for expanding external links was not implemented in H5Ocopy, even though a flag existed for H5Pset_copy_object to enable this. This patch implements this feature. Tested: jam, amani, linew (h5committest); Fedora

* [svn-r14284] Description:Quincey Koziol2007-11-241-29/+4
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Add H5Lvisit_by_name() API routine to library. Eliminated all (five!) other group traversal routines and changed them all to use the new API routine. Cleaned up output of h5ls & h5stat: - Issue error when requesting recursive traversal of a file with the "group info" flag, but no group given - Print info about root group in all(?) appropriate situations - Don't print "verbose" information about root group until the root group is in the list of objects to display (mostly because h5ls & h5stat had a different twist on traversing the groups in a file that the other utilities) Tested on: FreeBSD/32 6.2 (duty) in debug mode FreeBSD/64 6.2 (liberty) w/C++ & FORTRAN, in debug mode Linux/32 2.6 (kagiso) w/PGI compilers, w/C++ & FORTRAN, w/threadsafe, in debug mode Linux/64-amd64 2.6 (smirom) w/default API=1.6.x, w/C++ & FORTRAN, in production mode Linux/64-ia64 2.6 (cobalt) w/Intel compilers, w/C++ & FORTRAN, in production mode Solaris/32 2.10 (linew) w/deprecated symbols disabled, w/C++ & FORTRAN, w/szip filter, in production mode Mac OS X/32 10.4.10 (amazon) in debug mode Linux/64-ia64 2.4 (tg-login3) w/parallel, w/FORTRAN, in production mode
* [svn-r14154] Description:Quincey Koziol2007-09-251-39/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Finish deprecating last H5G symbol (H5G_obj_t) - yay! Lots of misc. library fixes to remove confusion between links and objects. The tools could still use another pass, to remove h5trav_type_t type and make the correct distinction between links & objects. | | | | | | | | | Add flag to bypass (expensive) B-tree & heap size retrieval for internal calls to H5O_get_info(). Teted on: Mac OS X/32 10.4.10 (amazon) FreeBSD/32 6.2 (duty)
* [svn-r13745] Description:Quincey Koziol2007-05-101-37/+11
| | | | | | | | | | | | Take further advantage of the readers/writer locking in the metadata cache and push the locking of the local heap up to the routines which call B-tree routines, which should drastically lower the number of metadata cache protect/ unprotect calls. Tested on: Mac OS X/32 10.4.9 (amazon) Linux/32 2.6 (chicago) Linux/64 2.6 (chicago2)

* [svn-r13045] Description:Quincey Koziol2006-12-121-4/+4
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | Switch from using H5L_index_t/H5L_INDEX_<foo> to H5_index_t/H5_INDEX_<foo> in order to accommodate indices on aspects of attributes as well as links. Add basic support for deleting attributes in dense storage (needs more support/tests for shared attributes in dense storage still). Misc. cleanups, etc. Tested on: Linux/32 2.6 (chicago) Linux/64 2.6 (chicago2)
* [svn-r13015] Description:Quincey Koziol2006-12-041-6/+6
| | | | | | | | | | | Migrate more object header routines to use the H5O_msg_ prefix and put them into the src/H5Omessage.c code module. Tested on: Mac OS X/32 10.4.8 (amazon) FreeBSD/32 4.11 (sleipnir) Linux/32 2.4 (heping) AIX/32 5.? (copper)
* [svn-r12973] Description:Quincey Koziol2006-11-251-10/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Finish removing library's internal code that uses H5G_get_objinfo() and retarget it at either getting the link information or the object information, as appropriate. (Still need to add user-level tests for H5Oget_info(), but since several internal components of the library depend on the internal version, it appears to be working correctly). Tested on: FreeBSD/32 4.11 (sleipnir) Linux/322.4 (heping) Linux/64 2.4 (mir) AIX/32 5.? (copper) Mac OS X/32 10.4.8 (amazon)
* [svn-r12963] Description:Quincey Koziol2006-11-211-6/+11
| | | | | | | | | | Refactor internal code that retrieves the object's type to use the new H5O_type_t (which only definitions for object types, instead of links as well) instead of the older H5G_obj_t (which included links, etc.) Tested on: Linux/32 2.6 (chicago) Linux/64 2.6 (chicago2)
* [svn-r12954] Description:Quincey Koziol2006-11-211-0/+48

* [svn-r12907] Description:Quincey Koziol2006-11-141-36/+45
| | | | | | | | | Finish refactoring internal link deletion code, to make it possible to wrap up the H5Ldelete_by_idx() coding. Tested on: Linxu/32 2.6 (chicago) Linxu/64 2.6 (chicago2)
* [svn-r12906] Description:Quincey Koziol2006-11-131-0/+66
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Straighten out some convoluted code when links were being deleted, which could cause the "delete" callback for user-defined links to not get called when the group they were in was deleted. Had to compromise on the "delete" callback though - only calls the callback with the ID for the file the link is in, instead of the group, since the group is being held open upstream in the calling sequence during a group deletion and this prevents a group and its ID from being created. (This could possibly be worked around, but would cause a fair bit of havoc in the code and I'm not entirely certain it's worth it...) Tested on: Linux/32 2.6 (chicago)
* [svn-r12896] Description:Quincey Koziol2006-11-131-582/+155
| | | | | | | | Move compact storage routines into separate file, to make room for internal routines that operate on links within group operations. Tested on: Linux/32 2.6 (chicago)
* [svn-r12894] Description:Quincey Koziol2006-11-121-17/+14
| | | | | | | | | | | | Add H5Lget_name_by_idx routine & tests Move more H5G routines to deprecated API file Tested on: FreeBSD/32 4.11 (sleipnir) w/threadsafe Linux/32 2.4 (heping) C++ & FORTRAN Linux/64 2.4 (mir) w/build-all & enable_compat1.6 AIX/32 5.? (copper) w/parallel & FORTRAN
* [svn-r12890] Description:Quincey Koziol2006-11-111-34/+30
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Finished implementation of H5Lget_info_by_idx for all cases: old vs. new group formats, compact vs. dense new link storage, increasing vs. decreasing vs. native iteration order. Also, refactor symbol table "foo by index" routines to be more generic and share more code by using a single B-tree iteration callback which makes callbacks to a specific "get <foo>" callback. Tested on: Mac OS X/32 10.4.8 (amazon) FreeBSD/32 4.11 (sleipnir) Linux/32 2.4 (heping) Linux/64 2.4 (mir) AIX/32 5.? (copper)
* [svn-r12878] Description:Quincey Koziol2006-11-071-7/+3
| | | | | | | | Flesh out support for looking up link info by index, some cases for using dense storage are working now. Tested on: Linux/32 2.6 (chicago)
* [svn-r12872] Description:Quincey Koziol2006-11-071-15/+81
| | | | | | | | | | | | Implement basic framework for H5Lget_info_by_idx and get it working for creation order indices on compact groups. Clean up code a bit. Close resource link in user-defined link traversal. Tested on: Linux/32 2.6 (chicago)
* [svn-r12842] Description:Quincey Koziol2006-11-021-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Refactor generic property list initialization code to put property list specific routines in property list modules, instead of scattered to the four winds. Also, introduce property list class initialization objects, to make adding new property list classes in the library easier. Fix daily test failure by using H5Pget_elink_prefix() API routine instead of looking at the "raw" generic property list information. Tested on: Mac OS X/32 10.4.8 (amazon) FreeBSD/32 4.11 (sleipnir) w/threadsafe Linux/32 2.4 (heping) w/C++ & FORTRAN Linux/64 2.4 (mir) w/build-all & 1.6 compat
* [svn-r12707] Description:Quincey Koziol2006-10-021-20/+20
| | | | | | | | | Further minor modifications to the file format for tracking links in groups. This is tentatively the "final" file format for groups. Tested on: Linux/32 2.6 (chicago) Linux/64 2.6 (chicago2)
* [svn-r12700] Alert:Quincey Koziol2006-10-021-164/+187
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | File format is not stable, don't keep files produced! Description: First stage of checkins modifying the format of groups to support creation order. Implement "dense" storage for links in groups. Try to clarify some of the symbols for the H5L API. Add the H5Pset_latest_format() flag for FAPLs, to choose to use the newest file format options (including "dense" link storage in groups) Add the H5Pset_track_creation_order() flag for GCPLs, to enable creation order tracking in groups (although no index on creation order yet). Remove --enable-group-revision configure flag, as file format issues are now handled in a backwardly/forwardly compatible way. Clean up lots of compiler warnings and other minor formatting issues. Tested on: FreeBSD/32 4.11 (sleipnir) w/threadsafe Linux/32 2.4 (heping) w/FORTRAN & C++ Linux/64 2.4 (mir) w/enable-v1.6 compa Mac OSX/32 10.4.8 (amazon) AIX 5.3 (copper) w/parallel & FORTRAN
* [svn-r12650] Description:Elena Pourmal2006-09-051-4/+9
| | | | | | | | | Purify found some memory leaks in the code related to the HDF5 external links. James provided the fix and asked me to check it in. Tested: heping, mir, shanti, and juniper
* [svn-r12528] Added User-Defined links to the library.James Laird2006-08-021-18/+54
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | Users can create external links using H5L_create_external(). These links point to an object in another HDF5 file. Users can alter the behavior of external links or create new kinds of links by registering callbacks using the H5L interface. Added tests, tools support, etc. Also a number of other, minor changes have been made (some restructuring of the H5L interface, for instance). Additional documentation and examples are forthcoming.
* [svn-r12452] Purpose:James Laird2006-07-051-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Feature Description: Revised Link APIs. Solution: New link APIs use H5L* H5*create_expand do not create links to the objects created; this must be done manually with H5Llink. Added APIs to link an object given its ID (H5Llink), to copy links (H5Lcopy), and changed creation APIs (H5Lcreate_hard and H5Lcreate_soft) and query API (H5Lget_linkinfo instead of H5Gget_objinfo). All old APIs are still supported in H5Gdeprec.c . Platforms tested: sol, mir, copper Misc. update: Forgot to update MANIFEST and release docs. Will do after checkin.

| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Bug fix Description: Retrieving an object's name could fail (in various ways) under certain circumstances (mostly having to do with mounted files). Solution: Re-write & simplify "get object name" code to fix error in a better way than adding yet another hack to the previous pile of hacks... :-) Platforms tested: FreeBSD 4.11 (sleipnir) h5committest
* [svn-r11771] Purpose:Quincey Koziol2005-12-081-1/+2

* [svn-r11712] Purpose:Quincey Koziol2005-11-151-0/+725
New feature Description: Check in baseline for compact group revisions, which radically revises the source code for managing groups and object headers. WARNING!!!! WARNING!!!! WARNING!!!! WARNING!!!! WARNING!!!! WARNING!!!! WARNING!!!! WARNING!!!! WARNING!!!! WARNING!!!! WARNING!!!! WARNING!!!! This initiates the "unstable" phase of the 1.7.x branch, leading up to the 1.8.0 release. Please test this code, but do _NOT_ keep files created with it - the format will change again before the release and you will not be able to read your old files!!! WARNING!!!! WARNING!!!! WARNING!!!! WARNING!!!! WARNING!!!! WARNING!!!! WARNING!!!! WARNING!!!! WARNING!!!! WARNING!!!! WARNING!!!! WARNING!!!! Solution: There's too many changes to really describe them all, but some of them include: - Stop abusing the H5G_entry_t structure and split it into two separate structures for non-symbol table node use within the library: H5O_loc_t for object locations in a file and H5G_name_t to store the path to an opened object. H5G_entry_t is now only used for storing symbol table entries on disk. - Retire H5G_namei() in favor of a more general mechanism for traversing group paths and issuing callbacks on objects located. This gets us out of the business of hacking H5G_namei() for new features, generally. - Revised H5O* routines to take a H5O_loc_t instead of H5G_entry_t - Lots more... Platforms tested: h5committested and maybe another dozen configurations.... :-)
