* [svn-r21126] Description:Quincey Koziol2011-07-191-3/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | | Clean up some compiler warnings, but mainly an interim checkin on the path of reducing code coupling in the library by removing most of the places which were accessing H5F package definitions. Tested on: Mac OS X/32 10.6.8 (amazon) w/debug FreeBSD/32 8.2 (loyalty) w/debug FreeBSD/64 8.2 (freedom) w/debug Linux/64 2.6 (heiwa) w/debug Linux/64 2.6 (ember) w/parallel
* [svn-r20529] Purpose: Add testing for bug 1864Neil Fortner2011-04-151-0/+164
| | | | | | | | | Description: Added internal tesitng routines to traverse a file and verify that symbol table information is *always* cached, whenever possible. Added this check to the end of many tests to check all the test files, right before the call to h5_cleanup. Tested: jam, amani, heiwa (h5committest)
* [svn-r19005] Purpose:Mike McGreevy2010-06-151-2/+8
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Commit metadata tagging framework. Description: This check-in contains a new framework whose goal is to apply a tag value to each new entry in the metadata cache as it is created. This tag value is such that it relates each piece of metadata to the HDF5 object that it belongs to (dataset, group, et cetera). This changeset includes the framework that applies the tags as well as a suite of tests to verify correct tag application, though does not yet make use of the tag values to flush/evict individual objects. Please refer to the "flush/evict individual objects" RFC for further discussion of these changes. Tested: jam, amani, linew (h5committest) liberty, abe, blue print

| | | | | | | | Clean up compiler warnings. Tested on: Mac OS X/32 10.6.3 (amazon) w/debug (too minor to require h5committest)

Also, other minor changes to speedup the 'cache' test. * [svn-r17893] Descrption:Quincey Koziol2009-11-151-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Remove old shim H5B2 routines from refactoring, rename new routines to old routine names and switch all users of the H5B2 interface back to the old routine names now that the switch to using the more current open -> <operation> -> pattern is used for all the H5B2 code. This is the final change before adding a context to the H5B2 client encode/decode callbacks. * [svn-r16710] Purpose: Fix bug 1423Neil Fortner2009-04-081-0/+56
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | Description: Versions of the library between 1.3.0 and 1.6.3 have a bug which prevents them from opening any file that does not have the root group's symbol table information cached in the root group's entry in the superblock. Prior to 1.8 this was not an issue as this information was always cached. However, 1.8.0 stopped writing this information (which is not required by the file format specification), and these older versions can therefore not read files created or last written by versions 1.8.0 to 1.8.2. This fix modifies the library to once again add this information to the superblock (when using the old file format). Tested: jam, linew, smirom (h5committest)
* [svn-r16279] Description:Quincey Koziol2009-01-081-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | Bring revision 16278 back from revise_chunks branch: Update layout information in DCPL to unify all information in one underlying property and switch to using H5O_layout_t for storing it, which simplifies things considerably. Also, fix many compiler warnings. Tested on: FreeBSD/32 6.3 (duty) in debug mode (Original patch tested on many machines)

* [svn-r12700] Alert:Quincey Koziol2006-10-021-7/+135
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | File format is not stable, don't keep files produced! Description: First stage of checkins modifying the format of groups to support creation order. Implement "dense" storage for links in groups. Try to clarify some of the symbols for the H5L API. Add the H5Pset_latest_format() flag for FAPLs, to choose to use the newest file format options (including "dense" link storage in groups) Add the H5Pset_track_creation_order() flag for GCPLs, to enable creation order tracking in groups (although no index on creation order yet). Remove --enable-group-revision configure flag, as file format issues are now handled in a backwardly/forwardly compatible way. Clean up lots of compiler warnings and other minor formatting issues. Tested on: FreeBSD/32 4.11 (sleipnir) w/threadsafe Linux/32 2.4 (heping) w/FORTRAN & C++ Linux/64 2.4 (mir) w/enable-v1.6 compa Mac OSX/32 10.4.8 (amazon) AIX 5.3 (copper) w/parallel & FORTRAN
* [svn-r12221] Purpose:Quincey Koziol2006-04-101-0/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | "Hide" file format changes (for now) Description: Add ifdef's (controlled by the --enable-group-revision configure flag) to disable group revision changes to the file format, in order to allow alpha release to go ahead without releasing an unsupported version into the wild. Platforms tested: FreeBSD 4.11 (sleipnir) Linux 2.4 32-bit (heping) Linux 2.4 64-bit (mir) Solaris 2.9 (shanti)
* [svn-r11838] Purpose:Quincey Koziol2005-12-261-0/+87
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Bug fix Description: Retrieving an object's name could fail (in various ways) under certain circumstances (mostly having to do with mounted files). Solution: Re-write & simplify "get object name" code to fix error in a better way than adding yet another hack to the previous pile of hacks... :-) Platforms tested: FreeBSD 4.11 (sleipnir) h5committest
* [svn-r11732] Purpose:Quincey Koziol2005-11-161-0/+46
| | | | | | | | | | | | | More tests Description: Add more tests for proper behavior of groups with different group creation property settings. Platforms tested: FreeBSD 4.11 (sleipnir) Linux 2.4 Solaris 2.8
* [svn-r11712] Purpose:Quincey Koziol2005-11-151-0/+185
New feature Description: Check in baseline for compact group revisions, which radically revises the source code for managing groups and object headers. WARNING!!!! WARNING!!!! WARNING!!!! WARNING!!!! WARNING!!!! WARNING!!!! WARNING!!!! WARNING!!!! WARNING!!!! WARNING!!!! WARNING!!!! WARNING!!!! This initiates the "unstable" phase of the 1.7.x branch, leading up to the 1.8.0 release. Please test this code, but do _NOT_ keep files created with it - the format will change again before the release and you will not be able to read your old files!!! WARNING!!!! WARNING!!!! WARNING!!!! WARNING!!!! WARNING!!!! WARNING!!!! WARNING!!!! WARNING!!!! WARNING!!!! WARNING!!!! WARNING!!!! WARNING!!!! Solution: There's too many changes to really describe them all, but some of them include: - Stop abusing the H5G_entry_t structure and split it into two separate structures for non-symbol table node use within the library: H5O_loc_t for object locations in a file and H5G_name_t to store the path to an opened object. H5G_entry_t is now only used for storing symbol table entries on disk. - Retire H5G_namei() in favor of a more general mechanism for traversing group paths and issuing callbacks on objects located. This gets us out of the business of hacking H5G_namei() for new features, generally. - Revised H5O* routines to take a H5O_loc_t instead of H5G_entry_t - Lots more... Platforms tested: h5committested and maybe another dozen configurations.... :-)
