* [svn-r16036] Purpose: add H5Iis_valid functionNeil Fortner2008-11-051-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | Description: H5Iis_valid function added. This function checks if the id is valid (i.e. it is currently registered and visible to the application), and returns TRUE if it is valid, or FALSE otherwise. It should never return an error. Tested: kagiso, linew, smirom (h5committest)
* [svn-r13253] Updated all C and C++ style source code files with the THG ↵Albert Cheng2007-02-071-2/+3

* [svn-r12842] Description:Quincey Koziol2006-11-021-1/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Refactor generic property list initialization code to put property list specific routines in property list modules, instead of scattered to the four winds. Also, introduce property list class initialization objects, to make adding new property list classes in the library easier. Fix daily test failure by using H5Pget_elink_prefix() API routine instead of looking at the "raw" generic property list information. Tested on: Mac OS X/32 10.4.8 (amazon) FreeBSD/32 4.11 (sleipnir) w/threadsafe Linux/32 2.4 (heping) w/C++ & FORTRAN Linux/64 2.4 (mir) w/build-all & 1.6 compat

| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Code cleanup Description: Trim trailing whitespace, which is making 'diff'ing the two branches difficult. Solution: Ran this script in each directory: foreach f (*.[ch] *.cpp) sed 's/[[:blank:]]*$//' $f > sed.out && mv sed.out $f end Platforms tested: FreeBSD 4.11 (sleipnir) Too minor to require h5committest

| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Bug Fix/Code Cleanup/Doc Cleanup/Optimization/Branch Sync :-) Description: Generally speaking, this is the "signed->unsigned" change to selections. However, in the process of merging code back, things got stickier and stickier until I ended up doing a big "sync the two branches up" operation. So... I brought back all the "infrastructure" fixes from the development branch to the release branch (which I think were actually making some improvement in performance) as well as fixed several bugs which had been fixed in one branch, but not the other. I've also tagged the repository before making this checkin with the label "before_signed_unsigned_changes". Platforms tested: FreeBSD 4.10 (sleipnir) w/parallel & fphdf5 FreeBSD 4.10 (sleipnir) w/threadsafe FreeBSD 4.10 (sleipnir) w/backward compatibility Solaris 2.7 (arabica) w/"purify options" Solaris 2.8 (sol) w/FORTRAN & C++ AIX 5.x (copper) w/parallel & FORTRAN IRIX64 6.5 (modi4) w/FORTRAN Linux 2.4 (heping) w/FORTRAN & C++ Misc. update:
* [svn-r8892] Purpose:Quincey Koziol2004-07-161-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | Code cleanup Description: Clean up a bunch of warnings and bring new code better inline with current library coding practice. Platforms tested: FreeBSD 4.10 (sleipnir) w/parallel Too minor to require h5committest Misc. update:
* [svn-r8879] Raymond Lu2004-07-141-1/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | Purpose: New feature Description: New API H5Tencode and H5Tdecode. Given object ID, H5Tencode encodes object information into a binary form. H5Tdecode decode an object information in a binary form, reconstructs the object and return a new object ID. Solution: Use object header functions H5O_dtype_decode and H5O_dtype_encode to facilitate them. The encoded binary is exactly like object header information. This is the first step checkin. Will check in H5Sencode and H5Sdecode later. Platforms tested: h5committed and fuss. Misc. update: will update release.txt after 2nd step checkin.

* [svn-r8766] Nat Furrer2004-06-301-1/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Purpose: Small H5I API changes. Description: Changed public version of H5Inmembers to return the number of IDs in a type by reference. This allows the user to differentiate between the case when H5Inmembers has an error and when the ID type is just empty. Added a new API function, H5Itype_exists, which allows the user to find out whether an ID type exists or not, without throwing an error. Solution: Platforms tested: Copper Misc. update:

| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Purpose: Feature; Optimization Description: Clients pass `-1' or make their own #define for HDF5 functions that take an optional object ID. Blue's GPFS is slow for typical SAF restart dumps. Solution: Added a #define for H5I_INVALID_HID Added GPFS-specific code to H5FDmpiposix.c that tells mmfsd to forego byte range token prefetching. This code can be compiled into the library by defining USE_GPFS_HINTS. The plan is to either generalize this so it's detected during configure and turned on/off at runtime, or to move it up into DSL/SAF with the new HDF5 functions to that return the low-level file handle. Platforms tested: SuSE Linux (arborea), gcc and mpich-1.2.4 SunOS (baldric), gcc 2002-09-05 12:24:28 Robb Matzke <matzke@arborea.spizella.com> *: Added #define for H5I_INVALID_HID. An invalid object handle is actually any integer that isn't currently in use as a handle, and non-positive integers are never used as a handle. The #define is -1, and is mostly so that HDF5 users can pass a symbolic name instead of a negative number to functions that take optional object ID arguments.

| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Purpose: Added 'ID to name' support Description: There is a new API function H5Iget_name Most of the changes are on H5G.c , regarding the symbol table entry struct H5G_entry_t which has 2 new fields 'name' and 'old_name' A new private function was introduced H5G_ent_copy, that does a deep copy between 2 symbol table entries The test file is getname.c Platforms tested: windows 2000, Linux, Solaris

* [svn-r4324] Purpose:Quincey Koziol2001-08-101-6/+6
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | New Features! Description: Start migrating the internal use of property lists in the library from the older implementation to the new generic property lists. Currently, only the dataset transfer property lists are migrated to the new architecture, all the rest of the property list types are still using the older architecture. Also, the backward compatibility features are not implemented yet, so applications which use dataset transfer properties may need to make the following changes: H5Pcreate(H5P_DATASET_XFER) -> H5Pcreate_list(H5P_DATASET_XFER_NEW) and H5Pclose(<a dataset transfer property list>) -> H5Pclose_list(id) This still may have some bugs in it, especially with Fortran, but I should be wrapping up those later today. Platforms tested: FreeBSD 4.4 (hawkwind)
