* [svn-r24878] Description:Quincey Koziol2014-03-241-3/+4
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Bring r24864 from trunk to 1.8 branch: Remove all traces of MPI-POSIX VFD and GPFS detection/code. Remove remaining traces of stream VFD. Remove testpar/t_posix_compliant test (it's not actually verifying anything). Clean up H5D__mpio_opt_possible() further. Moved environment variable that disables MPI collective operations into MPI-IO VFD (instead of it being in src/H5S.c). A few other small code cleanups. Tested on: Mac OSX/64 10.9.2 (amazon) w/parallel & serial (daily tested on trunk)
* [svn-r24720] bring r24709 from trunk:Mohamad Chaarawi2014-02-181-1/+1
| | | | | | | rename H5V to H5VM since H5V is needed in the fastforward project for view objects. The addition of view objects in the fastforward project is expected to be brough into the trunk sometimes in the future, which is why we need to make this change.
* [svn-r24209] Port r24171 from trunk to 1.8 branch.Neil Fortner2013-09-271-1/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Tested: jam, koala, ostrich, platypus (h5committest) Log from r24171: Purpose: Fix problem with gcc 4.8 Description: With optimization enabled, gcc 4.8 inserts garbage into the padding bytes of floating point types when assigning from a literal constant. This caused problems when H5detect.c scanned the bits in floating point types to determine their properties. Modified H5detect.c to scan for padding before further analyzing the type, and to ignore all information in the padding areas. Also removed code that temporarily disabled optimization. Tested: jam, koala, ostrich, platypus (h5committest)

* [svn-r19134] Description:Quincey Koziol2010-07-281-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Bring r19133 from trunk to 1.8 branch: Correct traversal of user-defined links (including external links) to retain path information of object, allowing H5Iget_name() queries to work quickly (without searching entire destination file). This required some refactoring and addition of a mechanism to detect if a "fast" query was performed (for the tests). Minor code cleanups, etc. Tested on: FreeBSD/32 6.3 (duty) in debug mode FreeBSD/64 6.3 (liberty) w/C++ & FORTRAN, in debug mode (h5committest performed on trunk)
* [svn-r18574] Description:Quincey Koziol2010-04-151-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Bring r18571 from trunk to 1.8 branch: Bring r18542 from metadata journaling "merging" branch to trunk: Bring new object header pin/unpin & protect/unprotect routines and split-out object header chunk proxy changes from metadata_journaling branch to "merging" branch, along with some other minor tweaks to clean up compiler warnings, etc. Also: clean up chunk protect/unprotect calls when allocating or freeing space in a chunk, optimize metadata accumulator code to avoid some re-reading of information from the file, refactor H5O_pin/H5O_unpin from way they are done on the merging branch back to way they were previously done on trunk, other minor code cleanups, etc. Tested on: FreeBSD/32 6.3 (duty) in debug mode FreeBSD/64 6.3 (liberty) w/C++ & FORTRAN, in debug mode Linux/64-amd64 2.6 (abe) w/parallel, w/FORTRAN, in production mode (h5committested on trunk)
* [svn-r18493] Bug fix:Albert Cheng2010-04-011-7/+5
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Testlibinfo.sh failed again. Solution: Removed the const from H5libhdf5_settings definition, again. Revamp the whole setting so that H5lib_settings.c is compiled individually, just like H5Tinit.c. Hope this will take care of the problem once for all. Tested: Amani using --disable-shared with --enable and --disable-embedded-libinfo. Will test this on the AIX platform after commit (cannot run bin/reconfigure in the AIX platform and it is too clumsy to try to ssh files back and forth and incurred "svn merge inconsistency" later too. Pretty confident this fix should work in all other platforms.
* [svn-r18470] bug fix:Albert Cheng2010-03-301-4/+4
| | | | | | | | | | | | | recent changes to the embedded library generation code does not quite work for the AIX system. The strings command of AIX does not display the embedded library information be default. Solution: Changed the H5libhhdf5_setting[] to be an extern variable. Also removed the const qualifier so that strings can see the variable data. Tested: Blue-print (with embedded-libinfo enabled and disabled).

* [svn-r16712] Purpose: Fix bug 1423Neil Fortner2009-04-081-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | Description: Versions of the library between 1.3.0 and 1.6.3 have a bug which prevents them from opening any file that does not have the root group's symbol table information cached in the root group's entry in the superblock. Prior to 1.8 this was not an issue as this information was always cached. However, 1.8.0 stopped writing this information (which is not required by the file format specification), and these older versions can therefore not read files created or last written by versions 1.8.0 to 1.8.2. This fix modifies the library to once again add this information to the superblock (when using the old file format). Tested: jam, linew, smirom (h5committest)

| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Bring revision 14860 back to 1.8 branch, change log for rev 14860 is: Omnibus raw data I/O revisions, with wide-ranging changes and refactoring, in order to prepare for implementing "fast append" feature. These changes remove the majority of the code duplication for raw data I/O which has crept in over the last ten years and introduces a more object- oriented design for operating on different types of dataset storage. Description: Omnibus raw data I/O revisions, with wide-ranging changes and refactoring, in order to prepare for implementing "fast append" feature. These changes remove the majority of the code duplication for raw data I/O which has crept in over the last ten years and introduces a more object- oriented design for operating on different types of dataset storage. Chunked storage no longer has it's own I/O routines, it is now handled as either contiguous (if chunk is not pulled into the cache) or compact (if the chunk is cached in memory). No bug or feature changes, at least intentionally... :-) Tested on: Mac OS X/32 10.5.2 (amazon) w/production

* [svn-r13926] Description:Quincey Koziol2007-06-291-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | Add small interface to "wrap" a static buffer (usually on the stack), but still allow for buffers larger than the static buffer to be allocated. This can eliminate _many_ short-lived buffer allocations in situations where the buffer is a predictable size (or at least a "very likely" size). Also, some minor code cleanups, particularly in the SOHM caching code. Tested on: Mac OS X/32 10.4.10 (amazon)

| | | | | | | | | | | | | | Change H5[D|G|T]<foo>_expand() "temporary" API routines to H5[D|G|T]<foo>2() "versioned" routines. Also added H5[D|G|T](create|commit)_anon() routines to continue to allow "anonymous" objects to be created in a file. Tested on: Mac OS X/32 10.4.9 (amazon) FreeBSD/32 6.2 (duty) FreeBSD/64 6.2 (liberty) Linux/32 2.6 (chicago) Linux/64 2.6 (chicago2)
* [svn-r13497] Description:Quincey Koziol2007-03-111-1/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Move ref. count of # of links to an object out of the object header's prefix and make it a header message instead (since it's a "rare" occurence), eliminating some more space for each object in the file. Inserting this "ref. count" message exposed a flaw in the library's mechanism for locating a message to promote to another chunk and replace with a continuation message, which required some additional work to fix. It's still not completely robust, but it's working for more cases now and detects failures robustly. Reduced the minimum size of an object header chunk to just enough to contain a header message prefix and continuation message. Tested on: FreeBSD/32 6.2 (duty)

| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Revise latest form of superblock format pretty drastically, to eliminate unused fields and move rarely used fields into superblock extension. Finished removing last vestiges of references to (never used) i"shared" object header message ID. Added object header messages for non-default v1 B-tree 'K' values and for driver info. Updated testfiles to reflect size changes, etc. Various minor cleanups, etc. Tested on: FreeBSD/32 6.2 (duty) Mac OS X/32 10.4.8 (amazon)
