+that doing ``class Foo(X, typing.Protocol)``, where ``X`` was a class that
+had :class:`abc.ABCMeta` as its metaclass, would then cause subsequent
+``isinstance(1, X)`` calls to erroneously raise :exc:`TypeError`. Patch by
+Alex Waygood.
