Set default symbol visibility to hidden.
Compile with -fvisibility=hidden rather than -fvisibility=internal, in
order to avoid PLT lookups for internal functions. Also fix a
regression that caused the -fvisibility flag to be omitted, due to:
Port to Mac OS X.
